Recently, PCB removed Sarfaraz Ahmed from the captaincy of T20 and Test formats on Friday, October, due to his worst performance as a captain, continuously.

Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan, a right-handed batsman and a wicketkeeper played only five ODIs for Pakistan’s U-19 team, where he had performed outstandingly with back to back fifties in the third and fourth ODI and had dismissed 21 players. Due to his excellent show up, he was escalated by PCB to lead the team and Now PCB removed Sarfaraz Ahmed from the captaincy of T20’s and Test formats.

PCB Removed Sarfaraz Ahmed From The Captaincy: Azhar Ali And Babar Azam Appointed As Their New Captain’s

Azhar Ali has been selected for the captaincy of the test cricket and Babar Azam is nominated for the T20I cricket. Although there are no changes made to the squad of One Day International cricket.

Azhar Ali, on whom PCB and Pakistan squad are relying, has scored 5669 runs in overall 73 Test matches with an average of 43.27. From the last six innings, he had scored a hundred and two fifties with an average of 81.20.

He is also considered as a Pakistan’s Hero after showing his performance during Australia’s tour, where he summed up with 406 runs.

He also had a big score of 388 runs in only 4 matches, earning the second-ranking in batting, in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019/2020

Ehsan Mani, the chairman of PCB, said,

“I want to congratulate Azhar Ali and Babar Azam on their elevations to the most coveted and prestigious jobs in cricket. It is a reward for their continued hard work in strives for excellence and I am sure they, like their predecessors, will make the country proud with their performance, leadership and sportsmanship”.

In the Press Conference, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said that it was an honor to lead Pakistan at this peak level. And he also well wishes the new captains, Azhar Ali and Babar Azam, by saying,

“I want to thank all my colleagues, coaches, and selectors who have helped me in this journey.

My best wishes are with Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, and the Pakistan cricket team, and I hope they will continue to grow better and stronger.”

On the other side, Azhar Ali credited Sarfaraz who had completely transformed the raw talent into experienced and potentially strong players, during his captaincy. Azhar Ali showed his readiness to hold the charge and show his best at this stage. He said,

“There is no bigger honor than to captain the Pakistan national cricket team in the pinnacle format of the game.”

“I feel humbled, excited, and privileged, and with the support of the team, look forward to justifying the faith that has been entrusted upon me for the World Test Championship.”

“When I was told yesterday, I had already been mentally prepared after consulting with elders and senior cricketers since this was something that had been a rumor for the past three to four months.”

While talking over his captaincy and also showing a glimpse of his strategy, he said,

“I am not only targeting wins but also aim to provide opportunities to players to grow in stature and express themselves so that Pakistan cricket can continue its top position.”

He further added,

“Wins are usually an emphasis and are strongly coveted by captains and for any team.”

Showing his thankfulness to PCB over his selection as a captain of a test format, he said,

“I feel it has been a natural succession for me and I am delighted that the PCB has put faith in my capabilities.”
